The first full year of INCLAVE as a member organization is coming to a close, so we took the money we raised and threw a party --which was also a game--for the members.
Set in 1938, the Golden mermaid features several factions that represent sides in the coming war and some yet indecided, plus the local and a set of Chthuloid servants--all of whom are trying to obtain the Golden Mermaid statue (a gold statue of a Deep One hybrid). Written by Heath Jones, Produced by INCLAVE, and Hosted at Khedron de Leon's house, we had 19 confirmed guests, but only 1 showed due to heavy snow in the mountains. We had tons of fantastic food provided by Michelle Simon and drinks mixed by Ted Stewart. Portraits officially has three core storylines playtested. Look for another event later this year to mark the creation of a box set for sale in stores. Also, we are talking about taking it to the Conventions for a one-night mystery there. We have to work out how the different rooms will be played, and the logistics and reality checks on hiding Item cards in a hotel... In other news: An old-rules Vampire LARP, School of Night, is starting in the area and is being spearheaded by one Isaac Hicks, a script writer and Live-Action enthusiast who approached us at TALAN. A number of the participants at the Golden Mermaid even expressed interest in the game. If anyone knows a good venue for a Vampire LARP (non-boffer), please contact me ASAP. 2010 Memberships are on sale now at the same rate: $20 for a Player Membership, which gets you $5 off INCLAVE events and vendor items. Contact one of the Board for more information.
